It begins with a resounding Maestoso introduction in 3/4 time that builds in intensity to a faster Con Brio section in 4/4. Low brass and saxes start the second section off with a syncopated modal bass line that reappears throughout the work. Driving rhythms and effective scoring keep everything cooking right to the end.
