Description
Debussy was a unique and progressive composer, whose independent approach to form, harmony and colour dominates his piano pieces. The Children's Corner Suite, composed between 1906 and 1908, is not necessarily intended tobe played by children, or even to children, but is intended to capture the essence of childhood with charm, grace and humour. The music was inspired by, and reflects, the world of childhood fantasy. It was once described asportraying the games, escapades and gestures of a small girl from Paris. Debussy's intention was to create moods and sensations and, utilising his typical harmonic richness and mastery of the impressionistic style, he succeedsinan appealing and joyous fashion.
